How Can I Tell I Need an Oil Change?
The motor oil of your vehicle is involved with various aspects of performance. Regulating engine oil temperature, cleaning debris from the motor, lubricating various parts under the hood- these are just some of the responsibilities of motor oil. So if your Dodge model's motor oil is wearing down, you'll notice the performance in your Dodge begins to wear down as well.
If you see a noticeable drop off in fuel economy from what you're accustomed to, it likely has to do with the motor oil aging. The same goes for any downtick in acceleration. Additionally, your car may begin making odd noises if the motor oil is past the point of necessary replacement.
There are ways for you to check this motor oil yourself if needed. You can remove the dipstick from under the hood, wipe it off, place it back into the tank, and remove it again to determine how much motor oil is less and what type of quality it is. The oil should be above the recommended level suggested on the dipstick. It should also be fluid and brown in color when healthy, as opposed to thick and black when worn down.
