You’re afforded four types of engines in the Ram 1500 to accommodate your specific needs. As you go through each one, you’ll see which best suits you and your workload.
The introductory engine, the 3.6L Pentastar® V6 with eTorque, produces 305 horsepower with 273 lb-ft of torque.
Want the longest available driving range for a 4x4 vehicle? Opt for the 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 engine. You can ride for up to 950 miles with just one tank. It pumps out 260 horsepower with 480 lb-ft of torque.
For a power-hungry driver, only the best will do—and that’s the optional 6.2L Supercharged HEMI® V8 engine. It produces a whopping 702 horsepower with 650 lb-ft of torque. With this engine, you’ll be able to reach a top speed of 118 MPH.
The final engine, the upgraded 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine with eTorque, produces 395 horsepower with 410 lb-ft of torque. What makes this special is the towing capacity. It tops the charts out of all the other engines, and we’ll get more into this in the next section.
With the standard 3.6L engine of the Ram 1500, it provides a satisfying towing capacity of 7,730 pounds. If you need more to tow your preferred watercraft or trailer, move up to the 3.0L EcoDiesel engine. It tows up to 9,600 pounds.
The 5.7L engine cedes more power toward the towing capacity. You can tow a maximum of 12,750 pounds, so you can tow even more in your Ram 1500 without blinking an eye.
